The hospital depends on patient fees for running its activities, but also receives a grant to support staff salaries and some drugs from abroad. The hospital received Tshi.4 million from Church of Sweden Mission for Delivery Relief Fund and Tshi. 9 million for medicine and salary support. The Ministry of Health gives Grant-in-aid for 120 beds only. Since 1970s the grant has not been increased up to now. This situation has seriously affected the hospital economy.
Some people suffering from treatable diseases do not come at the hospital due to lack of money to pay their bills. Many of those who attend sometimes fail to pay their bills after they have been discharged. During the year 2002, the hospital had fewer in patients in comparison with 2001.
